Best Island in Bahamas
We have added a plethora of information for your Bahamas vacation. After reading, you can choose which of these is the best island in Bahamas and which you want to spend the most time at. Discover the full list of Destinations in the Bahamas that Bahamas Air Tours serves from Florida and Miami. Here is a list of some of our favorites:
Nassau (New Providence)
Nassau isn’t an island but it is the country’s capital on the island of New Providence. This is the hub of tourism in the country. You can get anywhere, do anything, and take most tours straight from Nassau. If you are thinking about doing some serious island hopping, using Nassau as a base might be your best bet. It may not be the best island in Bahamas, but New Providence is certainly the most convenient.
Paradise Island
Along with the theme of convenience, Paradise Island is also in a great spot to have all luxuries and amenities of the Bahamas at your fingertips. First of all, Paradise Island is actually connected to New Providence and Nassau via two bridges. This means boat or air travel (the main forms of transport throughout the Bahamian islands) is not necessary.
Paradise Island is famous for its white sand beaches and beautiful large resorts. Namely, Atlantis Paradise Island Resort which is a massive complex and offers some of the most unique experiences in the Bahamas. Many people travel to Atlantis just to experience the resort on a day pass.
Walk with sharks on the seafloor, go swimming with dolphins, experience the thrill of Aquaventure Waterpark, take your chances at the world-class Atlantis casino — these are just some of the many options you have at Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island.

Staniel Cay
Staniel Cay is the hub of tourism on the exotic Exuma Cays side of the Bahamian islands. Although small and quiet, Staniel Cay has become an important hub for visitors in the Bahamas because of its relative location to many of the hot attractions in the Bahamas.
Just minutes away are tours to Pig Beach on Pig Island. Swimming pig tours have quickly become one of the most renowned things to do while in the Bahamas. Just nearby Big Major Cay is the Hollywood-famous Thunderball Grotto — a thrilling rock formation packed with adrenaline for adventure lovers.
Also near is Compass Cay where you can swim with reef sharks, Bitter Guana Cay where you can spot endangered Rock Iguanas, and also one of the world’s most accessible underwater plane wreckages used to transport drugs during the Colombian drug crisis of the ’80s and early ’90s.
There are also great places to stay in Staniel Cay near the popular Staniel Cay Yacht Club like Chamberlain’s Cottages which is the definition of an island getaway stay on so many levels.
Staniel Cay represents the opportunity to truly explore the Exuma Cays and that is why it has become a popular hub for the past half-century.

The best places in Bahamas are just a flight away.
Harbour Island
In the northern part of the Bahamas is Harbour Island of Eleuthera. Famous for Pink Sand Beach which sits outside of Pink Sands Resort, Harbour Island has become synonymous for a total escape and is certainly one of the best island in Bahamas.
On Harbour Island, the preferred mode of transportation is via golf cart and we believe that says all that needs to be said about the place.
Check out the rest of Dunmore Town as well as taking a day to explore the rest of Eleuthera.
Elbow Cay
Further north of Harbour Island is Elbow Cay a part of the Abaco Islands. Elbow Cay, though small, is a fishing paradise. The main village, Hope Town, surrounds a protected harbor and around the Abaco Islands you will find the best fishing in the Bahamas.
Make sure you check out the Hope Town Lighthouse which towers over the village. You can’t miss it.

Spanish Wells
Sitting in-between Harbour Cay and Elbow Cay is a small oasis called Spanish Wells in Eleuthera. Matter of fact, you can probably combine your Harbour Island visit with an experience in Spanish Wells. There are many action sports, fishing, and more to do in Spanish Wells. Even though it is smaller than many Bahamas islands, this place can pack a punch.
Bimini
Bimini is popular for being the closest Bahamian island to the Florida coast. You can reach Bimini in thirty minutes if traveling from Miami which makes it a great day trip destination from Florida while still remaining one of the best island in Bahamas.
While on the island, you must check out Resorts World Bimini. An absolutely massive complex which covers over half of the island. It is impressively big and busy and there will never be a moment you are not entertained.
Make it to Radio Beach for some sunshine and beautiful ocean views.
Great Exuma
Great Exuma is another great place for your Exuma day trips. We mentioned Staniel Cay as being a hub of the Exumas, but Great Exuma is the true hub. Great Exuma is to south Bahamas what Nassau is to the north. The only reason we hesitate to call it the best island in Bahamas is because it doesn’t have the same feel as the rest of the Exumas — but only in some more developed areas of the island. It is still possible to find a paradisiacal getaway in Great Exuma, trust us!
However, in some places, you must sacrifice atmosphere for convenience. And Great Exuma is certainly convenient for those who want to explore the wild Exuma Cays for a few days.
