The Royal Atlantis

Contrary to what many travelers think, Atlantis and many of the other nearby resorts aren’t on New Providence (the island that houses Nassau), but on Paradise Island. 

Previously (and less elegantly) known as Hog Island, the island had a simple past and was home to the oldest lighthouse in the Bahamas, which still stands. However, the area entered a period of massive development in the 1960s. Atlantis was born during this period, officially opening its doors to the public in 1988.

The average nightly rate for a standard room in the Atlantis Royal Towers (as of 2024*) costs between $350-$410. Day pass rates (as of 2024*) are $255 for adults (ages 13 and older) and $140 for children (ages 4-12). 

All of the rooms are recently renovated, featuring bright colors and modern amenities. Many also come with balconies.

Logistically, the lobby is the hub of the entire complex, offering prime access to the Atlantis Aquarium, Aquaventure, the Atlantis Casino, and much more. 

The Bridge Suite

The Atlantis Nassau bridge suite is one of the most iconic parts of the resort.

Atlantis The Royal features a bridge connecting the two sides of the structure together. Besides being iconic, this bridge also contains a luxurious suite.

If you’re not willing to spend tens of thousands of dollars to stay there, admiring the bridge from the resort’s exterior (or anywhere in the Nassau area) is easy enough.

Atlantis The Royal has its own pool, as do the other hotels within the resort.

While Atlantis is home to a total of 14 pools, The Royal Baths is one of the best. From the pool’s signature shape to its convenient location that’s just steps away from Atlantis The Royal, it’s the perfect place to cool off, get some sun, or recline with a book. 

Splash Around Aquaventure

Aquaventure is home to the Leap of Faith and many other famous attractions.

Aquaventure is Atlantis’s Mayan-themed, massive waterpark that stretches across 141 acres. Perfect for resort guests and day trippers alike, Aquaventure is home to water slides that plunge you through shark-infested water, winding lazy rivers, and more parts of the Atlantis Aquarium.

Visit the Marina at Atlantis Nassau

Nearby Marina Village has shops, restaurants, and more.

You can enjoy some of the best sightseeing on the island at the Atlantis Marina. Rivaling some of the top European yachting destinations, the marina accommodates massive yachts stretching up to 250 feet (76.2 meters).

Marina Village is also there and home to dozens of venues.

Tour the Dig Atlantis Aquarium 

The Royal Atlantis guests have prime access to The Dig.

As mentioned, Atlantis The Royal embodies the lost city through its architecture and decor. However, it isn’t just superficial, as those underwater, sunken city themes extend to The Dig. 

The Dig Atlantis Aquarium is home to many impressive species, including moray eels, rays, and clownfish. Besides the animals, you’ll also find the exhibits to further lean into the Atlantean aesthetic, with artifacts, obelisks, and hieroglyphic writing everywhere you look.

The Royal at Atlantis Bahamas: Getting in

The easiest way to reach Atlantis the Royal is by staying there. If you are, you can take advantage of the resort’s pickup from Lynden Pindling International Airport. From there, it’ll take you around 30 minutes to reach the resort. 

If you’re not staying at The Royal Atlantis, you can also purchase a day pass to visit the resort. Doing so makes it possible to tour many of the resort’s attractions, even if you’re just in Nassau for a day.

Travelers downtown can taxi to Atlantis Nassau. It should take just around 10 minutes, depending on traffic, to make it over the Paradise Island bridge and arrive at the resort.
