Harbour Islands Bahamas along with the other Out Islands have come to be known as the authentic Bahamian experience. With no crowds or towering resorts you’re really able to explore the Bahamas in all its pure, natural beauty.
The Bahamas is a destination known first and foremost for its enchanting tropical islands. The most pristine images of white sand, palm trees and golden orange sunsets spring to mind when picturing a Bahamas tour. Of all the picturesque sites to choose from, Harbour Island Bahamas displays some of the country’s most spectacular scenery.
Since the Out Islands are all so easily accessible, a Bahamas Day Trip or Island Hopping Bahamas Tour with Bahamas Air Tours will give you the chance to visit a number of these islands from Florida and Nassau. Take our Nassau to Harbour Island Day Trip by plane.
During your exploration of the Out Islands you will undoubtedly come across a number of New England styled buildings. This historical architecture will make you feel as if you’ve travelled back in time, particularly in places like Dunmore Town on Harbour Island Bahamas. The entire town is comprised of quiet lanes framed by colourful colonial buildings. These lanes will lead you to some of the best local restaurants in the Bahamas where you can try some of the delectable cuisine.
To add to the delightful charm of Harbour Island Bahamas, your transportation around Dunmore Town and the island itself will be a golf cart. As you explore the island on your Bahamas Day Trip, you will come across more exciting activities, from horse riding along the magnificent beaches to yachting or losing yourself in the luxury of the island’s top accommodation. Not to mention how easily accessible the town is from North Eleuthera Island. Harbour Island Bahamas can be found just 5kms east of North Eleuthera Island. With Florida air charters and flights to North Eleuthera Island, you’re able to enjoy a Miami day trip to Bahamas.
There are a number of exquisite beaches to discover during your Bahamas tour, but the jewel in the crown that is the Bahamas, is Pink Sands Beach. The magnificence of Pink Sands Beach on Harbour Island Eleuthera is evident from the moment you lay eyes on it. The sparkling white sand at the top of the beach gradually changes into a rich pink hue the closer it gets to the water’s edge.
The unique colour of Pink Sands Beach is not due to the colour of the grains of sand, but rather what the sand is mixed with. The shells of millions of tiny molluscs have collected on the beach, mingling with the sand. When wet, these shells display an impressive and vibrant red colour. Mixing with the white of the sand, this red becomes pink, contrasting with the white sand higher up on the beach. Flights to North Eleuthera will allow you to island hop Bahamas with Bahamas Air Tours, bringing you to spectacular sites like Pink Sands Dunmore Town Bahamas.
While this beach may have a unique colour, it is just as good a place as any to lie back and soak up the sun’s rays on your Bahamas Day Trip. Whether you’re looking to relax on the beach and sunbathe, or have a leisurely swim in the crystalline turquoise waters, Harbour Island Bahamas is the perfect destination for you. Flights to North Eleuthera from Florida are not the only way to explore sites such as this one, you can also enjoy 3 day cruises from Miami and 3 night cruises to Bahamas. However you decide to explore the Out Islands, you are sure to have an exceptional Bahamas tour if you include Harbour Island Eleuthera.
Many visitors want to feel the rush of adrenaline and excitement surging through them, rather than simply relaxing on the beach. Fortunately, you will be given the chance to explore the beach atop a magnificent stallion. Beach horse riding is an authentic Bahamian experience, and what better place to do it than Pink Sands Dunmore Town Bahamas.
The enchanting atmosphere of Harbour Island Bahamas is not only due to the beauty of the famous Pink Sands Beach. Bahamas island hopping with Bahamas Air Tours will transport you to a number of quaint little Bahamian towns, but few are as alluring as Dunmore Town. Named after Lord Dunmore, who was the governor of the Bahamas from 1786 to 1797, is one of the Bahamas’ oldest settlements. Over the years the buildings have been well looked after, which means that you will see excellent examples of New England colonial architecture on almost every street during your Bahamas tour. The brightly coloured houses are complemented by the white picket fences and window shutters. It’s fascinating sites like this one that you will find yourself exploring if you book with Bahamas Air Tours.
The significance of Dunmore Town in Bahamian history is really quite considerable. Dunmore Town on Harbour Island Bahamas was actually the capital city in the late 18th century. Not only was the town named after Lord Dunmore, but it was actually founded by him in 1786 when he was named governor. The first building was a summer home for Lord Dunmore, and once that was built he began to draw out plans for the rest of the town, mapping out lanes and roads. While this may have all been over 200 years ago, arriving in Dunmore Town today and discovering all the interesting colonial houses and buildings will make you feel as though you’re back in the 18th century.
One building in particular stands out among the rest on your Bahamas tour. Known as ‘Loyalist Cottage’ this beautiful blue and white building has been kept in absolutely perfect repair, especially considering it’s one of the island’s oldest buildings, having been built in 1797. It was named loyalist cottage because to the right of the front door, a plaque can be seen bearing the Union Jack. Though this fantastic building is still a private residence, it is still very much worth a visit.
The beauty and charm of Dunmore Town will be evident throughout your Bahamas tour. The small, quiet lanes are fringed by flower beds overflowing with colourful flowers, palm trees provide dappled shade and the beauty of the entire town is enhanced by the turquoise backdrop of the ocean. Viewing sights like this one during your Bahamas Day Trip is why travelling with Bahamas Air Tours is so worthwhile.
Though Pink Sands Beach may be the island’s main attraction, there are a number of other things to see and do that make Harbour Island a worthwhile stop on your Bahamas Day Trip with Bahamas Air Tours. With an entire island to explore, you will come across some range of exciting and diverse attractions that each display the beauty of Harbour Island Bahamas in their own way.
At the northern point of Harbour Island Bahamas you will come across the attraction known as Lone Tree on you Bahamas tour. A Bahamas Day Trip would not be complete without taking some time to visit this fantastic site for a truly unique photograph opportunity. A flat bed of sand spans outwards from your feet as you arrive at the site of Lone Tree. Jutting artistically out of the sand is a large piece of driftwood which is said to have arrived with Hurricane Andrew in 1992. No one is sure exactly what kind of tree it is, but everyone can agree that it provides a photo opportunity like no other.
Harbour Island also has a fantastic Haunted Mansion to visit. Once known as the Glen Stewart Mansion, this impressive building has fallen into disrepair. While it may be fun to speculate about the presence of the supernatural, this building is nothing more than an interesting stop for your Bahamas tour. If the thought of exploring a supposedly haunted house doesn’t excite you, this is still an excellent site for some post-apocalyptic style photographs.
Naturally, the reason for most visits to Harbour Island Bahamas is also the most popular attraction on the island. Pink Sands Beach attracts travellers from all around the globe for a Bahamas tour, but this is not the only beach that Harbour Island Bahamas has to offer. Exploring the island’s coastline will bring you to a number of quiet, pristine white sandy beaches. It’s experiences like the ones on Harbour Island Bahamas that make booking a Bahamas Day Trip with Bahamas Air Tours so worthwhile.
One of the best parts about visiting a new country is the chance to try out some of the local cuisine. Fortunately, the Bahamian cuisine is a delicious blend of seafood, citrus, sauces and spices that will tantalize your tastebuds.
Arguably the Bahamas’ most popular ingredient, the Queen Conch is a chewy white meat that can be prepared in a wide range of different dishes. A Bahamas tour would truly be incomplete without trying at least one or two conch dishes. You can choose from cracked conch (deep fried), conch salad, conch fritters and even raw conch mixed with some citrus fruits makes for a delicious and refreshing midday snack.
It certainly comes as no surprise that the Bahamas is high on the list of any boater or yachting enthusiast. It’s hard to not fall in love with the idea of gliding over the surface of the turquoise water as you enjoy the warmth of the Bahamian sun and explore every nook and cranny of the islands.

If you’re staying at the Valentines Resort, you can go out and explore the private marina, where you will see some truly magnificent luxury yachts.
Boating in the Bahamas is not only for boat enthusiasts. While it may be fun to cruise along the water, many people find the real beauty of the Bahamian oceans beneath the surface. Your next stop will be Loyalist Cottage, which you will reach by following Bay Street north. Once you’ve taken your photos of the historic building, keep moving along Bay Street to your first Bahamian meal at Dunmore Town’s famous Fish Fry.
With a full stomach, you’re ready to keep heading north to the island’s northernmost attraction, Lone Tree. After witnessing this iconic scene, and snapping a couple pictures of the unique landscape, jump back in your cart and head south down Chapel Street for a snack pit stop at Arthurs Bakery and Cafe. With snacks in hand, take the next left along Chapel Street which will lead you to Pink Sands Beach’s access point. You’ll likely spend a while enjoying the beach, so be sure to take your cart’s keys with you as you go exploring.
With the warmth of the sun having soaked into your skin, climb back into your cart and make your way back into Dunmore Town. Turn south onto Dunmore Street until you find St John’s Anglican Church where you can stop to take some more pictures of the oldest Anglican church in the Bahamas, having been built in 1768. One block along will bring you to the impressively ornate Wall of License Plates. A short trip east will link you up with Colebrook Street, head down the street for 5-10 minutes until you reach Sunset Dock. It is here that you will be able to explore the Haunted House of Harbour Island Bahamas. Your final stop as you make your way back up to Government Dock will be the Valentines Resort and Marina where you can view some of the luxury yachts that are moored here.
