Junkanoo beach can get very busy during peak travel season, especially when the cruise port has a full berth of Cruiseships for the day. Our recommendation for quiet beaches nearby is get a Day Pass at the British Colonial¸which has a secluded beach, in fact the closest beach to downtown Nassau. Otherwise take a 10 minute walk along Long Wharf to the beach at Arawak Cay.  Our second top tip, is for cheaper food options, to try the Bahamian Fish Fry at Arawak Cay.

From the cruise port, it’s typically a leisurely 10 to 15-minute walk to Junkanoo Beach, depending on the specific terminal your ship docks at and your walking pace. As you stroll along the waterfront, you’ll pass through parts of downtown Nassau, offering glimpses of the city’s vibrant culture and architecture.

Alternatively, if you prefer not to walk, taxis are readily available at the cruise port and can quickly transport you to Junkanoo Beach for a reasonable fare. Additionally, some cruise lines may offer shuttle services or excursions to the beach as part of their itinerary, providing another convenient option for accessing this popular Nassau attraction.
