The Rosewood Baha Mar

New Providence and Paradise Island are the two major islands that form a part of the Nassau area. Previously a British colony, Nassau became a global travel hotspot in the mid-20th Century. Today, New Providence houses many famous hotels, including Bahamar Resort, while Paradise Island has Atlantis, The Ocean Club, a Four Seasons Resort, and others.  

The history of Rosewood Baha Mar and the other two hotels dates back to the early 2000s. During that time, a local billionaire started renovating three existing Cable Beach properties. However, he had to stop construction due to the 2008 financial crash, and a Chinese investment firm ultimately stepped in to take over. 

The stunning Bahamar Resort opened in 2017.

After years of work, Grand Hyatt Baha Mar opened as the first hotel option in 2017, with SLS Baha Mar and Rosewood Baha Mar opening shortly after. 

Today, the three accommodation options play a huge role in the Bahamian economy. Rosewood Hotel Baha Mar and the other two hotels account for 12% of the national GDP. They also employ 5,000 people and indirectly employ another 15,000 more.

The 224 accommodation options at Rosewood Hotel Baha Mar range from standard (albeit luxurious) hotel rooms to massive, multiple-bedroom villas. The simplest options start at around $1,200 (as of 2024*) per night, with additional space and bedrooms increasing the price. 

A one-bedroom suite costs around $3,400 per night, and a luxurious, oceanside villa costs over $16,000 per night.

While Rosewood Baha Mar feels exclusive and secluded, you share the resort’s amenities with thousands of other guests. Because of that, you’ll want to ensure that you make dinner reservations well in advance – preferably weeks before your trip. You don’t want to be stuck waiting for a seat to open at a restaurant each night. 

Make reservations for cabanas, restaurants, and everything else well in advance.

Baha Mar: Getting in

Although getting a taxi from Lynden Pindling International Airport is easy, travelers can choose to coordinate a shuttle pickup through Bahamar Resort. It costs $75 (as of 2024*) for a one-way trip to Rosewood Baha Mar. 

Most travelers, however, will find it preferable to save a bit of money and take a taxi. $30-$40 is the average price of a taxi ride to Baha Mar.

It takes roughly 15 minutes to taxi or shuttle to Rosewood Nassau.

Regardless of whether you take the shuttle or a taxi, the ride shouldn’t take longer than 15 minutes. 

Day trippers don’t have a way to visit any of the three hotels, but they can purchase access to Baha Bay Water Park. Day pass rates (as of 2024*) are $165 for guests 48” and taller and $65 for guests shorter than 48”.
