SLS Nassau

The Nassau area encompasses two major islands: New Providence and Paradise Island. Both of these locations began transforming into the tourist hotspots of today in the mid-20th Century. Today, as a result of that development, New Providence houses many famous hotels (including Bahamar Resort), while Paradise Island has Atlantis and others.  

The history of Baha Mar Nassau dates back to the early 2000s when a billionaire started renovating three existing Cable Beach hotels. However, the 2008 financial crash wrecked these plans, and a Chinese bank and investment firm ultimately took over the renovations.

The resort had a troubled development but officially opened in 2017.

In 2017, Grand Hyatt Baha Mar opened as the first hotel option, with SLS Baha Mar and Rosewood opening soon after. 

Today, these three hotels play an enormous role in the local economy. SLS Nassau and the other two accommodation options account for 12% of the country’s GDP. They also employ 5,000 people and indirectly employ another 15,000 more.

Rooms at SLS Baha Mar start at around $560 per night (as of 2024*), with better views increasing the price to around $640 per night. Spacious suites are also an option and range from $1000 to $4,200 per night.

Staying at SLS Baha Mar Nassau gives you access to more than 45 restaurants and bars across the resort. From traditional French dining to food trucks and cocktail bars, the options ensure that even the pickiest of travelers can find venues to enjoy. 

Baha Bay at Baha Mar

You can find all sorts of water attractions at Baha Bay.

Baha Bay is the park’s 15-acre waterpark. Far from being only for kids, Baha Bay features pools, a lazy river, and numerous slides that make it easy to beat the heat. 

SLS Baha Mar guests can enjoy free access to the sprawling waterpark. 

Cable Beach

Cable Beach is one of the top Nassau beaches.

Arguably the prettiest beach on New Providence and certainly one of the top beaches in the Nassau area, Bahamar Resort offers prime access to Cable Beach. From lounging in a recliner to splashing around the warm water, Cable Beach is the perfect location to be at.

Not purchasing water is one of the easiest ways to save money at SLS Baha Mar. Bring a water bottle (or the free water provided in your room) to the restaurants to avoid having to purchase a $10 bottle at dinner.

Bahamar Resort: Getting in

Travelers arriving at Lynden Pindling International Airport will see the resort’s luxurious shuttle service as an option. Costing $75 for a one-way trip (as of 2024*), a taxi ride will cost half of that, so consider choosing the latter if you don’t mind a slightly less comfortable experience. The journey to SLS Baha Mar should take around 13 minutes. 

Baha Mar Nassau is a short ride away from the airport.

Day trippers won’t be able to visit any of the hotels, but they can purchase access to Baha Bay Water Park. Day pass rates (as of 2024*) are $165 for guests 48” and taller and $65 for guests shorter than 48”. 

Enjoy an Upscale Bahamas Vacation at SLS

SLS Baha Mar offers the upscale experience you’d expect from the famous Nassau resort but with a refined twist. Boasting sleek accommodations and access to all of the top Bahamar resort attractions, SLS Nassau is one of the top hotel options on the island. 

While Baha Mar Nassau is a bit removed from the Nassau Old Town area, you can still find plenty of attractions. Arawak Cay and Love Beach aren’t too far away from the resort, and The Bat Caves and Clifton Heritage National Park are just a short car ride away as well.
