Atlantis Paradise Island is accessible for guests and day trippers alike.
While many travelers know it as “Atlantis Nassau,” the world-famous resort isn’t actually on the Nassau island of New Providence. It’s on a small and narrow nearby island called Paradise Island. There, you can find some of the biggest resorts in the region, like Atlantis Resort Bahamas.
While Paradise Island may today house The Reef Atlantis and other glittering resorts, it wasn’t always that way. For much of Nassau’s history, the island contained little more than simple structures and a lighthouse. Even its name didn’t originate until the 20th Century – locals previously knew it as “Hog Island.”

Reef at Atlantis first opened in 2007.
In the 1960s, New Providence and Paradise Island began developing into the travel Meccas they are today. Investors, including Donald Trump, spent large sums of money on expanding the facilities of the two islands. The Atlantis Resort originated in this time, first opening in 1988.
The Reef at Atlantis Bahamas opened a couple of decades later in 2007. It’s on Paradise Beach, which The Reef guests have private access to.
The Reef Atlantis is one of the pricier accommodation options at Atlantis Nassau. The cheapest studio terraces average at around $430 per night (as of 2024*). A one-bedroom suite can cost anywhere from $500 to $1100 per night, and the most expensive penthouses cost nearly $10,000 per night.
Travelers looking to visit Atlantis Paradise Island for the day can purchase a day pass. These cost (as of 2024*) $255 for adults (ages 13 and older) and $140 for children (ages 4-12).

Private balconies are one of many room amenities.
The rooms are one of the biggest appeals of The Reef Atlantis. While they run on the pricey side, they offer additional space, which families and groups of travelers can benefit from.
Likewise, the suites also come with amenities like kitchenettes, washers and dryers, and private balconies.

The Cove Beach is one of two secluded beaches steps away from The Reef Atlantis and The Cove. Generally lacking the crowds found in other parts of the resort, it’s a great place to walk, swim, and sunbathe,

The Leap of Faith at Aquaventure is an exhilarating water slide.
Aquaventure Waterpark is the resort’s famous collection of slides, rides, lazy rivers, and more. Travelers can easily spend an afternoon making their way from attraction to attraction within the waterpark, as it has so much to offer.
Adrenaline enthusiasts will love the Leap of Faith, which plunges guests down a slide and into a tube that passes through a pool of shark-infested waters.
As The Reef Atlantis suites come with kitchens or kitchenettes, consider stocking up on groceries upon your arrival. Eating breakfast and lunch in the room will greatly offset the steeper price point!
Staying at The Reef Atlantis is the easiest way to enjoy the hotel and the many resort amenities. If you are an Atlantis Nassau guest, the resort has a shuttle service from Lynden Pindling International Airport. This isn’t free, however, so you can also consider taking a taxi. Either way, it should take around 30 minutes to reach the resort.
Travelers not staying at Atlantis Paradise Island can purchase a day pass. Doing so makes it possible to see some of the resort’s highlights, like Aquaventure.
If you are a day tripper, it should take around 10 minutes to reach Atlantis from Downtown Nassau.
