How to get to Bimini — Flights to Bimini
There are generally three ways to travel to Bimini from Florida with a fourth option available if you own your own boat. You can take the ferry, however, it is usually unenjoyable to say the most. There is a good chance that if you are not used to strong sea conditions, you will end up seasick. And if you are not sick, chances are someone near you will get sick. If you must take the ferry, make sure you bring medication to take care of the sea sickness right away.
Another option, which will get you from Miami to Bimini a little faster is via speed boat. If a ferry takes around two hours to reach Bimini, a speed boat will usually arrive in a little under two. However, this is very dependent on sea conditions. Booking a speed boat is the most unreliable type of transportation because it does not take much to cancel the trip. Too much wind could cancel your day tour and you will never make it out of Miami.
From Miami or Fort Lauderdale, it is easy to access almost every island in the Bahamas with Bahamas Air Tours Bahamas Air Charter private flight service. Not to mention, it is about three times faster to fly to Bimini rather than ride the boat. Bimini, generally, takes four hours for a round trip from Miami. However, once you also account for queuing times, you are looking at about five hours. Compare this to the less-than-one-and-a-half-hours time it takes to travel by plane from Miami to Bimini.
The last option would be for those who own their own boat. If you have a vessel shorter than 100 feet and can operate in controlling depth under 12 feet, you can dock your personal vessel in The Resorts World Bimini Marina. It is within walkable distance to the resort itself.

Things to do in Bimini
Besides relaxing on the fine sand of Bimini beaches, there are plenty of things to do in Bimini.
For example, did you know Bimini Road (sometimes called the Bimini Wall) is believed to be underwater remnants of the Lost City of Atlantis. Many think it was the highway leading into the notorious city. They think this because it is a one kilometer stretch of elevated limestone seemingly cut into blocks which lead in a straight line under the sea.
Also, did you know famous author, Ernest Hemingway, used to frequently visit Bimini and he called it his summer home from Florida? It is said he got many inspirations from Bimini for his short stories — most notably “The Old Man and the Sea” which went on to win the Pulitzer Prize. You can recount his steps as you travel throughout the island.
There are endless possibilities on the water:
- Jet ski
- Scuba diving
- Fishing (bonefishing, deep sea, big game, reef)
- Windsurfing/ parasailing
- Speed boat ride
- Swim with dolphins or sharks
- And more!
You can also stay land-bound. The Fountain of Youth and Bimini Healing Hole are both believed to contain restorative magic to revitalize you. You can try it for yourself. The Bimini Museum is a popular land-based attraction full of history and stories. The Dolphin House is artist Ashley Saunders’ working masterpiece. Every inch of the place is covered in recycled art and built to withstand ugly hurricane-like conditions.
There is so much more to do, but this list should get you started on the itinerary for your stay at Hilton Resorts World Bimini. If you are coming from Florida to Bahamas, Resorts World Bimini is the best place to spend the majority of your time.
